Lake Wazee — Patchy Fog, 70°F

Today at Lake Wazee, we’re looking at a gorgeous spring climb from a cool 54°F at dawn to a pleasant 70°F peak by mid-afternoon. Expect patchy fog greeting early risers with winds starting at just 3 mph from the east—about as calm as this lake gets.

Paddling Window: 7AM to 7PM

The hourly breakdown tells a satisfying story for paddlers. Temperatures climb steadily from 54°F at 7am through 61°F by 10am, then push into the mid-60s by noon. The sweet spot lands between 2pm and 5pm when you’ll hit that 69-70°F range with partly sunny skies. Wind remains exceptionally light throughout, starting at 3 mph in the morning and building to just 7 mph by early afternoon—barely enough to create a ripple on the water. Humidity drops from a soupy 100% at dawn to a much more comfortable 63-68% during peak afternoon hours. If you’re looking for the best sub-window, aim for 1pm to 5pm when conditions converge perfectly.

Through the Day

Early birds launching at 7am will paddle through patchy fog at 54°F with 3 mph easterly winds—ethereal and moody if you enjoy that kind of thing, but pack a layer. By 10am, the fog lifts to partly sunny skies and temperatures hit 61°F with winds picking up slightly to 5 mph. The midday stretch from noon to 3pm delivers the day’s best weather: 66-69°F, partly sunny, and winds steady at 6-7 mph from the east-southeast. Late afternoon paddlers from 5pm to 7pm see a gentle cooldown from 69°F back to 65°F as clouds move in, with winds easing to 5 mph.
