Jack Lake — Areas Of Fog, 66°F

Well, well, well. February has apparently lost its mind, and we’re not complaining. Today at Jack Lake, we’re looking at a high of 66°F that feels like a cruel joke after months of frozen misery, climbing up from a still-chilly 37°F at dawn. The morning starts with areas of fog and winds at just 2 mph SW—because Wisconsin likes to keep us guessing.

Paddling Window: 7AM-7PM Breakdown

Let’s talk about this wild temperature swing. At 7am, you’re staring at 37°F with 100% humidity and fog thick enough to question your life choices. By 9am, patchy fog lingers but temps hit 47°F. Then the magic happens—by 11am, the sun breaks through, temps reach 57°F, and winds pick up to a gentle 5 mph WSW. The sweet spot lands between noon and 4pm when you’ll enjoy 61-66°F under sunny skies. Peak temperature hits 66°F around 4pm with winds dropping back to 3 mph WSW. If you’re only paddling once today, aim for that 1pm-4pm window when conditions are genuinely spectacular.

Through the Day on Jack Lake

Early birds at 7-8am will paddle through legitimate fog—visibility could be compromised, so maybe hold off unless you enjoy mysterious lake vibes and potential collisions. By 10am, fog clears and mostly sunny skies take over as temps climb through the 50s. Midday through late afternoon is chef’s kiss territory: sunny, 61-66°F, with winds holding steady at 3-5 mph WSW creating barely-there ripples. By 6pm, temps ease back to 61°F with winds dropping to just 1 mph WSW—glass-like conditions for a sunset paddle. The day genuinely improves hour by hour.
