Fenwick Island State Park — Sunny, 61°F

Well, well, well. Look who decided to show up in February like it owns the place. Today at Fenwick Island State Park we’re looking at a positively scandalous high of 61°F under sunny skies, with a morning low of 49°F. Northeast winds start at a gentle 5 mph at 7am—because apparently the universe is just handing out favors now.

Paddling Window: 7AM-7PM

Let’s break down this meteorological miracle, shall we? Your morning starts at 49°F at 7am with 5 mph NE winds—crisp but manageable if you’re into that whole “character building” thing. By 10am, temperatures climb to 57°F and winds pick up to 10 mph NE, where they’ll camp out through mid-afternoon. Peak warmth hits between 2pm and 3pm at 61°F with those same 10 mph winds providing just enough resistance to remind you that you’re actually exercising. The sweet spot for kayak rental at Fenwick Island State Park? Aim for that 1pm-4pm window when you’ve got maximum warmth without the early morning chill.

Through the Day on Little Assawoman Bay

Early birds paddling at 7am will face 49°F and 86% humidity—basically soup for air, but at least the wind is a mere 5 mph NE to start. By midday, conditions smooth out beautifully: 59-60°F, humidity drops to the low 60s, and those 10 mph NE winds make Little Assawoman Bay kayak adventures feel legitimately pleasant. Late afternoon from 4pm onward sees winds ease back to 5 mph and temperatures gently decline from 60°F to 56°F by 7pm. It’s the kind of February day that makes you suspicious something’s about to go wrong.

Who Should Paddle Today

This is genuinely excellent weather for paddleboard rental in Delaware—the kind of day that tricks you into thinking winter is over (it’s not, but let’s enjoy the delusion). With average winds of just 7 mph and sunny conditions all day, beginners can comfortably hit the water, and experienced paddlers can actually enjoy themselves without hypothermia jokes. If you’ve been waiting for things to do in Delaware that don’t involve indoor heating, today’s your shot.
